Statement of Faith

The Bible:
We believe that the very words of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are divinely inspired (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:21). As such they are inerrant and infallible and serve as our sole authority for faith and practice (Jn. 10:35).

God:
We believe in one true God eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit, co-eternal and co-equal in power and glory (Deuteronomy 6:4, John 17:3, Matthew 28:19, II Corinthians 13:14, I Peter 1:2).

Man:
We believe that man was created in the image of God, by the direct act of God on the sixth day of creation (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7). God created man sinless and innocent. As a result of his disobedience, man incurred both physical and spiritual death. Men are universally sinful and will endure eternal punishment if not saved after the age of accountability. (Gen. 1:26, 27; 2:7-3:24; II Sam. 12:23; Ps. 51:5; Matt. 18:10-14; Rev. 20:14, 15).

Sin:
We believe that sin is lack of conformity to God’s Law (I John 3:4). The essence of sin in man is his propensity toward self-centeredness (Isaiah 53:6; II Timothy 3:2). We believe that Adam’s sin is imputed to every human being that is born (Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10; I Corinthians 15:22).

Salvation:
We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly by grace through faith alone in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and that all who receive Him as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become children of God.

(Eph. 2:8-9; John 1:29; I John 2:2; Is. 53:4-12)

The Church:
Organization: We believe the church is a spiritual organism consisting of all born-again believers from Pentecost to the Rapture (Acts 2:38-47; I Thessalonians 4:13-18). We believe that Jesus Christ is the founder (Ephesians 2:20), builder (Matthew 16:17-18), and Head of the church (Colossians 1:18). We believe this universal body also manifests itself on a local level (Acts 14:23). We believe the purpose of the church is to glorify God by exalting Christ, evangelizing the lost, and edifying the saints (Ephesians 3:20-21; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:11-12). We believe that the local church is the primary means through which God is working in this age. We believe that each local church is completely autonomous in administration of its own affairs and that its relationship with other ecclesiastical bodies should be one of fellowship only (Acts 20:28; Titus 1:5-11).

Ordinances: Christ instructed the church to observe two ordinances, both of which are symbolical rather than sacramental or efficacious.

    1. Baptism – All who profess faith in Jesus Christ should be baptized by immersion in water as a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord. (Mat. 28:19; Rom. 6:3-4)
    2. The Lord’s Supper – The Lord’s Supper is a memorial service in which the bread and juice represent the body and blood of Christ.

(Mat. 26:26-29; I Cor. 10:16; 11:23-34)

Separation:
We believe that all believers should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Lord and upon His church; and that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations is commanded of God in His Holy Word (II Corinthians 6:14-18; 7:1; Romans 12:1, 2; 14:13; I John 2:15-17).

End Times:
We believe the next event on God’s prophetic calendar is the rapture of the church (Titus 2:13). We believe it is imminent and that both the living and the dead in Christ will meet Him in the air (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Corinthians 15:51-52). We believe that following the rapture will be a period of tribulation on the earth for seven years (Daniel 9:27) concluding with the bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth (Revelation 19) when He will judge the wicked, and establish His earthly reign for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-4).
