Thinking about visiting...
Sunday Morning
Core Classes
On Sunday morning at 9:30AM we gather for an hour of Sunday School and Bible Study, in which we learn about God’s Word - its meaning and its application to every area of life. We offer age-appropriate classes. Following that, at 10:15AM, we begin gathering for our Sunday morning service. As we enter the main assembly area, our pianist plays hymns to prepare our hearts for worship.
Worship Service
Though we begin gathering earlier, we officially begin at 10:30AM. During this time, we sing several songs, listen to the reading of Scripture, offer praise and prayer to God, and give our offerings to the Lord.
Music
The music we sing at HBC is a blend of old and new. We enjoy a careful mix of older doctrinally rich hymns together with newer hymns and choruses. We emphasize congregational singing, which allows everyone to sing praise to God with one voice, over performed music, which spotlights individuals thus creating a spectating/entertainment environment. We view the music ministry of a church as a God-given means of teaching and admonishing one another.
Sermons
Preaching at HBC is largely expositional, which means we seek to give the meaning of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last between 40-50 minutes with morning service dismissing shortly before 12:00PM. All preaching is Christ-centered and Gospel-driven.
Sunday Evening
At 6PM we gather as a church family for a time of singing, testimony, prayer and Bible study. The sermons are geared toward application in the life of the believer and the church body. You will experience a healthy venue of biblical variety. The service concludes around 7PM by singing a hymn and reflecting on what we learned from God’s Word and each other. Spontaneous fellowship often follows as members take time to talk and enjoy each other.
Wednesday Evening
Specific group activities distinguish Wednesday night.
- Truth Trackers is a children's Bible club for ages 3 through grade 6 designed to encourage the memory and application of the Bible to young lives.
- Members and visitors gather for a time of inductive Bible study in which we think through a passage of Scripture together. Our pastor will give a few announcements and pray. We then sing a song before our study of God’s Word. Our goal in Wednesday Night Bible Study is not simply to learn from the selected text but to learn how to study the Bible and apply it to our personal lives. We take the remaining time to pray for each other, our families, our missionaries, and other needs listed. Many people come straight from work or dinner so you will find a variety of dress from casual to business.
